SUMMARY:Global Conference on Sustainability in Higher Education - Registration Now Open!

We seek to encourage higher education sustainability leaders to reflect and act on the Just Transition Principles articulated by the Climate Justice Alliance and to spotlight inspirational examples of institutions championing this work. \nRegister before the 31st of July to save $25! This year\, due to COVID\, we’re making the Go Zero Tour 2020 presented by Energy Trust of Oregon fully virtual.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nNote: this is a two-part event\, see schedule below \nResidential buildings account for almost a quarter of all energy usage in the state of Oregon\, and zero energy home design is an important strategy in climate adaptation. Join Solar Oregon for two premier virtual explorations of zero energy homes across the state: the Go Zero Tour 2020\, presented by Energy Trust of Oregon. This event is part of Sustainable Building Week. \nBuilding on a phenomenal event in 2019\, this year’s tour is more relevant than ever\, and brimming with possibility. SUMMARY:8th Grade Science Days
DESCRIPTION:We are happy to present NOAA Boulder’s  2020 Virtual 8th Grade Science Days\, an indepth look at our science. Kids will have the ability to put on their science caps and spend time in the shoes of scientists studying anything from the floor of the ocean to the surface of the sun.  For over 10 years NOAA in Boulder\, Colorado has brought 250 eighth graders to our facility to spend the day with many different scientists\, and learn what they do in their labs\, forecasting offices and research settings.  This year our facilities are closed to visitors\, so we are excited to bring this event virtually to many more students. \nYou will find eight topics\, each with a video and activity.  The videos were all recorded by our scientists in August and September of 2020.  The activities were created to be done with minimal supplies.  They can be completed by students in the classroom or at home\, in a group or individually.  The website will be available all school year. \nHere is the website for our Virtual 8th Grade Science Days program: https://esrl.noaa.gov/outreach/8th-grade-science-days/

SUMMARY:Non-Academic Research Internships for Graduate Students
DESCRIPTION:Fostering the growth of a globally competitive and diverse research workforce and advancing the scientific and innovation skills of the U.S. is a; strategic objective of the National Science Foundation (NSF). U.S. global competitiveness depends critically on the readiness of the Nation’s Science\, Technology\, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) workforce and NSF seeks to continue to invest in programs that directly advance this workforce. As part of this effort\, a supplemental funding opportunity is available in fiscal years FY 2021 and beyond to provide graduate students with experiential learning opportunities through research internships to acquire core professional competencies and skills to support careers in any sector of the U.S. economy. NSF currently invests in a number of graduate student preparedness activities and has historically encouraged principal investigators (PIs) to include such activities in research proposals to NSF. This Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) describes funding opportunities at NSF to ensure graduate students are well prepared for the 21st-century STEM workforce. \nTo learn more information about this grant\, including eligibility\, funding amount and period of support\, please Click Here.

SUMMARY:Is It Hot Enough For Ya?
DESCRIPTION:We recently launched our new series “Is It Hot Enough For Ya?”\, a weekly multi-generational conversation about climate change\, intersectionality\, and activism. \n \nJoin us tomorrow\, October 8th for our next episode at 3pm PT/ 6pm ET. \nIf you missed last week’s episode and this is all new to you\, here’s what you can expect. Think of Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday\, but focused around climate change\, activism\, advocacy\, and the disproportionate impacts of the intersecting effects of climate change on communities of color. \nWe invite you to listen in\, ask questions\, and then bring the topics we discuss to the dinner table\, continuing this valuable dialogue with the people around you. Our Climate youth leaders are looking forward to bringing you an engaging\, meaningful conversation every Thursday. \nTomorrow’s episode will feature Our Climate Fellow Roshan Selden and Andrés Jimenez\, Executive Director of Green 2.0. We’re looking forward to tuning in\, and you can register via this link! \nHope to see you there!
