SUMMARY:Oregon's 2021 Environmental Education Conference
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce our 2021 Environmental Education Conference. We are partnering with Southern Oregon University’s Environmental Education Graduate Program to bring you a hybrid conference with both virtual and in-person sessions. We are aware that social gatherings are not safe at this time and acknowledge that this may still be the case come summer 2021. Keeping that in mind we are working to organize a hybrid conference with the majority of sessions offered online with some in-person field trips and workshops at Southern Oregon University (SOU). We will be prepared to switch to an all-virtual conference if conditions warrant the change.\n\n\n\nProposals for presentations will open December 16\, 2020. Stay tuned for more information!\n\nConference Strands\nConference strands align with Oregon’s Environmental Literacy Plan – system thinking; physical\, human\, and living systems; interconnections of people and the environment; personal and civic responsibility; and thinking and planning for a sustainable future. \nDiversity\, equity\, and inclusion (DEI) will be interwoven into each strand. \n\n\n\nInterested in supporting the conference? Contact us to learn how you can volunteer your time or become a conference sponsor.

SUMMARY:50by40 Global Engagement Summit
DESCRIPTION:Recent publications\, such as the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Land and the EAT-Lancet report highlighted the exigency to reduce our reliance on livestock production and consumption. Thus\, there is an urgent need to facilitate a just transition towards a fair\, healthy and compassionate food system\, delivering nutritious and predominantly plant-based food for all. However\, transforming one of the most deeply embedded systems in this world presents complex and interlinked challenges. \nWith the 50by40 Global Engagement Summit | Voices for a Better Food Future\, we aim to gather voices from across the globe to collectively examine these challenges and\, as a result\, turn them into opportunities to accomplish the change we strive for. \nHosting an accessible virtual gathering provides us with a rare chance to bring together a range of actors working in the food systems to develop a strong and united approach addressing livestock production. With a strong emphasis on mobilising diverse key players\, NGOs\, and communities\, the summit looks into solutions for the planet’s most pressing issues. #FoodEngage20 \n \nFor more information and registration please Click Here.

SUMMARY:WOHESC 2021
DESCRIPTION:At WOHESC 2021\, we will continue to work to advance equity\, diversity and inclusion through conference thematic elements\, speakers and attendees. The focus will be on People\, Planet\, People: Envisioning Higher Education Sustainability and Resiliency in 2030. As 2020 is proving to be a year of lessons already\, and with what we’ve learned so far this year\, what can we expect to see for the next 10 years? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister to Attend WOHESC\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDue to the continuing impact and uncertainty of COVID-19 on our WOHESC communities\, we have made the decision to go virtual for the 2021 Washington Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference on February 11th-12th. While we are disappointed that we will not get the chance to gather in-person for this year’s conference in Seattle\, we are so excited to be able to offer the same amazing programming on a virtual platform. We will reconvene in 2022 for an in-person conference at our host campus\, South Seattle College. With this new virtual format\, the WOHESC conference will now be more accessible than ever! We’re thrilled by the opportunity to reach more people with our program and also drastically reduce the carbon footprint of this year’s event.
