Faculty Learning Community on Environmental Justice

FreeAs part of our Faculty Learning Community initiative, we are hosting an environmental justice workshop next Friday, October 16th, on Zoom. This workshop will include a mix of speakers and small group dialogue. Please see below for the full schedule. While this workshop is not limited to faculty, it is designed for a faculty audience.

9:00-9:05 Welcome and Introductions, Grace Wang (Curriculum for the Bioregion)
9:05-9:55 Keynote Address: Title TBA, Running Grass (Three Circles Center, EPA (retired))
10:00-11:45 Integrating climate justice and civic engagement in your classes: Learn how to integrate climate justice and civic engagement into your curriculum. You’ll walk away from this workshop with the outline of a lesson for your class. Heather Price (North Seattle College) and Sonya Doucette (Bellevue College)

1:00-2:00 Breakout sessions
- Student research, leadership, and stewardship for environmental justice in South Seattle: a 20 minute presentation will be followed by open discussion with Troy Abel (Western Washington University)
- Building Student-Led Environmental Justice Curricular and Co-Curricular Offerings on Your Campus: an interactive session with Kate Darby (Western Washington University)
- Climate Justice Activism: Jill MacIntyre Witt (Climate Reality Project)
2:00-2:15 — Closing Remarks, Next Steps
