Outside the Box, Behind the Screen—Connecting to Students through Cultural Artifacts

Cultural artifacts are objects, or realia, from daily life, that reflect the beliefs, values, and assumptions that make us who we are. In this session, you’ll explore realia from WorldOregon’s Culture Box program and see how they can help you learn about your students while teaching about the world. The Culture Boxes include primary sources that develop students’ observational skills, increase curiosity about the world, and provide conversation starters to build community in your classroom, whether you are teaching remotely or in person.
